Las Vegas lawyer charged with tax evasion
Charles C. LoBello, who practices business and personal injury law, was indicted Tuesday on five counts of tax evasion and five counts of filing false personal income tax returns. He is the brother of Mark LoBello, a Las Vegas lawyer who received a 15-month prison sentence in 2008 after pleading guilty to tax evasion.
According to the indictment against Charles LoBello, he had more than $900,000 in unreported taxable income from his law practice from 2001 to 2005. The document claims Charles LoBello evaded the individual income taxes he owed during those years, either by failing to file his personal income tax return for 2001, or by filing false corporate and personal income tax returns for 2002 through 2005.
The indictment further alleges that Charles LoBello provided incomplete income information to his bookkeeper and tax return preparer, and used personal checking accounts to hide large legal fee checks. A summons was issued for Charles LoBello, and he is scheduled to appear July 9 before U.S. Magistrate Judge Lawrence Leavitt.
