U.S. Businesses that will Request Work Opportunity Tax Credit Certification now have October 17 as the Deadline

Businesses in the United States which will claim the Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) have October 17 as deadline, the IRS announced. The last day for certification was August 17 before IRS (Internal Revenue Service) made the term disconnected youth clear.

To prevent any misunderstanding, the rewritten definition of disconnected youth by IRS is now 'not readily employable by reason of lacking a sufficient number of basic skills'.

Internal Revenue Code provided a Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) for US employers those employed persons which are part of certain groups. American Recovery and Reinvestment Tax Act of 2009 revised the special groups in Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) by adding unemployed veterans and disconnected youth. Those two groups hired by an employer in years 2009 and 2010 are also covered in Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) as of now.
