virginia tax amnesty: Virginia State Offers  a Tax Amnesty to Individuals that Have not Paid their Taxes

Virginia Department of Taxation proposes a tax amnesty to taxpayers who didn't pay their taxes, if they do pay their taxes between October 7 -  December 5, 2009.

The offer is called 'Get Square VA' (Get Square Virginia), and  all taxpayers, whether business or individual, may pay back taxes to the state of Virginia during this 2-month period with no penalties and half the normal charges of interest on late payment of tax.

Get Square VA tax amnesty program is exposed to almost all individuals, corporations, partnerships, estates and trusts who have failed to pay taxes.

J. Bowen, a commissioner for the tax department of Virginia says "This is an incredible opportunity for late taxpayers to pay off their tax bill at a reduced cost". If taxpayers choose not to pay their tax bill by the end of the amnesty period, then they will be charged a full interest fine and a further 20% tax penalty for late taxes.
