nebraska tax: Nebraska Department of Revenue Public Release About Tax Incentives and the E-Verify System
Nebraska Department of Revenue made a public release for taxpayers thinking of applying for Nebraska tax incentives for these programs:
- Nebraska Advantage Act
- Nebraska Advantage Rural Development Act
- Nebraska Advantage Microenterprise Tax Credit Act
- Nebraska Advantage Research and Development Act
The department of revenue told that taxpayers who are thinking of applying for a work under a Nebraska tax incentive program beginning 2009 October 1 must register for E-Verify so they begin electronically verifying the work eligibility of all recently employed staff. The revenue department of Nebraska also told that those who will claim a Research and Development credit must also verify the work eligibility of all recently hired employees beginning 2009 October 1.
The issue arises from the Legislative Bill 403, which asks for those who will apply for a Nebraska tax incentive program to use the E-Verify system (the federal electronic verification program).
E-Verify system is a simple and costless internet based system which verifies the employment eligibility of recently hired employees electronically. The program guarantees that all new employees can work in the United States in accordance with the law. For those who didn't use the federal electronic verification program for verifying work eligibility condition of newly hired employees, no tax incentives in Nebraska will be possible.
