ohio tax: Supreme Court of Ohio Announces Commercial Activity Tax is Constitutional
Supreme Court of Ohio announced that Commercial Activity Tax (CAT) is not a tax on sale or purchase of food, stating that the tax is on privilege of doing business, therefore is not unconstitutional.
The story is that The Ohio Grocers Association and 4 individual businesses disputed that the Commercial Activity Tax is not constitutional.
The court said that Commercial Activity Tax (CAT) is not an excise tax upon the sale or purchase of food, therefore it does not violate the Ohio Constitution.
The Commercial Activity Tax (CAT) staged beginning year 2005.
