Guam Tax: Rev & Tax Won't Renew Licenses For Massage Parlors in Non-Compliance
02 June 2010, Guam -- The Department of Revenue and Taxation is prepared to not renew the licenses of certain massage parlors.
Massage parlors on Guam have long been known to house prostitution.
Recently, the Attorney General's office sent a letter to Rev & Tax authorizing the agency not to renew the licenses of massage parlors that are not in compliance with the fire department, the Department of Labor, Public Health and the A.G.'s office.
Rev & Tax Director Art Ilagan says that they will begin implementing this request on the 30th which is the date for business license renewal. "We're gonna look at each of the businesses that are in question and not renew it until we get some kind of clearances from these other agencies if there is a violation of some sort from all these other agencies then we will not renew their licenses until they comply with the regulations," said Ilagan.
Ilagan adds that they are prepared to work with the various GovGuam agencies involved to ensure that all massage parlors are in compliance with Guam tax regulations.
