Tax Due Date Reminders Help You File on Time - Florida Tax

Florida Revenue's mission is to make it as easy as possible for you to collect and pay your taxes. We want to help you avoid common filing errors that can cost you time and money. Periodically in Facts on Tax, we publish tips on how to avoid these errors. In this issue, we focus on late tax filing.

One of the most common mistakes that taxpayers make is filing their taxes late. The Department of Revenue wants to help taxpayers avoid the penalties and interest that result from this oversight. We now offer a tax due date reminder service for sales and unemployment tax filers.

This service is available for all unemployment taxpayers and for sales and use taxpayers who file a paper tax return. Sales and use taxpayers who file electronically already receive a tax reminder.

You can sign up on Florida tax website subscription page. Be careful to select your correct tax filing frequency (monthly or quarterly) for sales tax. You will then receive monthly or quarterly e-mails about ten days before the tax filing deadline. If your filing frequency changes, you are responsible for updating your profile on our subscription page.

Remember, you must file a tax return or report even if you do not owe any tax.
