Colorado: Tax Offices Closed January 15 -- Furlough Day

Earlier this year, state lawmakers and the governor cut spending and took steps to address Colorado's revenue shortfall. Part of the plan involves mandatory unpaid furlough days for most state employees. Friday, January 15 is a mandatory furlough day. Monday, January 18 is Martin Luther King Jr. Day, a state holiday.

Please note that walk-in and telephone assistance for state taxpayers will not be available on these dates. If you have time-sensitive business with the Colorado Department of Revenue, please plan ahead. Furlough days are not considered state holidays. Tax due dates will remain the same.

- Tax payment plan due dates of January 15 are still valid. Payments may be mailed in, postmarked on or before the due date.
- Wage withholding "frequent filer" accounts are still expected to make their Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) payments on or before Thursday, January 21.
- Estimated payments, wage withholding payments, and severance tax payments due on the 15th must be submitted. Payments and returns may be mailed in, postmarked on or before the due date. Some taxes may be paid online at www.Colorado.gov/paytax
- At our walk-in service centers, submit applications for sales or wage withholding tax accounts early the week of January 11 for earlier processing.
