Coloradotax : colorado Tax Offices Closed Nov. 27 -- Furlough Day
Earlier this year, state lawmakers and the governor cut spending and took steps to address a $1 billion shortfall in revenue. Part of the plan involves mandatory unpaid furlough days for most state employees through the end of 2009. Thursday, November 26 is Thanksgiving, a state holiday. Friday, November 27 is a mandatory furlough day.
Please note that walk-in and telephone assistance for state taxpayers will not be available on these dates. If you have time-sensitive business with the Colorado Department of Revenue, please plan ahead. Furlough days are not considered state holidays. Tax due dates will remain the same.
- Tax payment plan due dates of November 27 are still valid. Payments may be mailed in, postmarked on or before the due date.
- Wage withholding "frequent filer" accounts are still expected to make their Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) payments on or before Wednesday, December 2.
- At our walk-in service centers, submit applications for sales or wage withholding tax accounts early the week of November 23, prior to the scheduled furlough day and the Thanksgiving holiday, for earlier processing.
