IRS Tax: Disaster Recovery Test, Sunday Build Window and ATS Downtime

Production System

The IRS will switch computing center sites during this second phase of the Disaster Recovery test that is scheduled from 6:00 am to 4:00 pm, Eastern on Saturday, October 24th. During this time the Registered User Portal and Production MeF system will appear to be working. You will receive a status record, acknowledgement or acknowledgement notification as usual. During this second phase, the data will be captured, stored and processed on the Production system after the site is switched back to normal. In the event of an unexpected loss of data, the IRS will notify the transmitter to retransmit. Transmitters and States, please refrain from using the MeF system during this 6:00 am to 4:00 pm window on October 24th.

On Sunday, October 25th, the MeF Production system will be down for an extended scheduled maintenance build from 1:00 am until 10:00 am, Eastern.


Assurance Testing System

Software Developers and States currently using the Assurance Testing System (ATS) should be aware that ATS will be down from 6:00 am Eastern on Saturday, October 24th (same start time as the disaster recovery test) until 8:00 am, Eastern on Monday, November 2nd. ATS will be unavailable throughout the week. When ATS opens on November 2nd, developers will be able to test Tax Year 2007, 2008, and 2009 tax returns and extensions for 1120 family,1065 family, 990 family, and Excise, Tax and TY2009 only for Forms 1040 and 4868.
