British Columbia tax: British Columbia provincial sales tax

Canada – Effective 1 July 2010, British Columbia's provincial sales tax will be harmonized with the federal goods and sale tax, creating a 12% federally administered tax.

Details of the technical and transitional rules of the new tax are expected in the coming months, but the proposed harmonization may impose significant additional costs on private equity funds that pay a management fee.
