hawaii tax: Hawaii Department Of Taxation Warns of Telephone Scam Regarding State of Hawai'i Tax Refunds
The State Department of Taxation is warning taxpayers of a new telephone scam targeting Hawai'i taxpayers. Taxpayers have reported receiving recorded telephone messages informing them that they are eligible for a lifetime tax refund because they have paid their taxes every year. The recording then repeats the taxpayer's name and address and asks for confirmation of the address.
This is a scam. Do not reply.
The Department of Taxation does NOT make automated telephone calls to taxpayers with recorded messages nor does the Department have a 'lifetime tax refund' program. Anyone receiving this type of recorded message may report it to the Tax Department at 587-1540.
