State of Georgia taxes: How to Pay my Delinquent Taxes

If your liability has reached the tax execution ("fi.fa.") or tax lien stage, it is assigned to a regional office of the department or a private collection agency for tax collection.

If you have been contacted by a collection agency, tax payments and inquiries should be directed to that agency.

If you contact the appropriate office as shown above, a payoff figure will be provided to you. Tax payment should be in the form of certified funds or cashier check to insure prompt cancellation of liens. The department will wait an appropriate time to allow personal checks to clear the bank before cancelling tax liens.

You may also pay your tax by credit card, but only for the current year, unless you have a notice number provided to you by the department. Any notice sent to you by the tax department will contain a unique notice number which may be used for this purpose.

Credit cards payments are processed by a third-party vendor, Global Payments, who charges a modest fee for this service.

You may also appear in person at any of our eleven (11) regional offices to pay a tax liability in full.

Installment Payments on individual income tax liabilities are processed by the Compliance Division's Special Programs Payment Unit.

Collection of business taxes (sales and use tax, withholding tax, corporate tax, motor fuel taxes) is the responsibility of the Compliance Division's Regional offices.

Limited payment plan options are available through those offices.
