Pay property tax over weekend

Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) centres to remain open

New Delhi - India, June 25, 2010 -- The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) centres will remain open this weekend to enable people to pay their property tax and meet the June 30 deadline to avail a 15 percent rebate, a civic official said Friday.

'People who are due to pay their property tax can do so over this weekend. All MCD zonal offices and the headquarter of the property tax department will remain open June 26-27,' Deep Mathur, the MCD spokesperson, said.

'Paying by June 30 will bring many benefits to the tax payers, as they will get 15 percent of statutory rebate for timely payment. They can also avail other additional concessions,' Mathur added.

For those do not pay by this month's end will be considered as defaulters, he said.

The defaulters will have to pay interest for the delay as per provisions of the Delhi Municipal Corporation (Amendment) Act.
