New York Tax: Marcotte only pick for New Rochelle

Greg Varian has a long record of supporting politicians who have increased taxes, devised new taxes, imposed new fees and twice sent termination notices to New Rochelle firefighters. The administration of former New Rochelle Mayor Tim Idoni, which Varian supported, gave 30-year tax abatements to Avalon while sending a home-rule request to eliminate New Rochelle's tax-cap, facilitating uncontrolled taxation. Under Idoni, 16 New Rochelle firefighters received termination notices.

A bailout from the Legislature saved these firefighter families from losing their primary source of income. This humiliation was repeated last year when the Noam Bramson administration, which Varian supports, again sent firefighters termination notices.

The union brotherhood deferred contractual raises saving these families from losing their primary source of income. Varian supported the removal of 100 years of library funding from the New Rochelle charter to coerce taxpayers into accepting a new library tax. The politicians Varian worked to get elected removed garbage collection costs from the New Rochelle budget and instituted a new refuse fee.
