Ireland Tax: Ireland needs to broaden tax base in 2011 budget
Ireland needs to broaden its tax base and will continue to introduce measures to do so in the budget for 2011, Irish Finance Minister Brian Lenihan said on Tuesday.
Dublin needs to push through 3 billion euros in savings in the December due budget and Lenihan has previously said that the burden would fall on expenditure with limited scope for taxation.
"We all know that we have to broaden our tax base and of course we will continue that process in the next budget," Lenihan told parliament at the end of a confidence debate in Prime Minister Brian Cowen.
