Germany Tax: Agreement On Nuclear Fuel Tax Stands
The German government said Friday an agreement imposing taxes on nuclear power plant fuel elements stands, but added the details for the agreement will be developed at a later point in time.
"The decision on the tax is final," Sabine Heimbach, deputy spokeswoman for the government said in Berlin.
She added though that the tax has no legal connection with the government's plans to extend the operating lives of nuclear power plants.
Earlier this month, the government announced plans to impose taxes on nuclear power plant operators and air travel in a bid to rein in the budget deficit.
