Minnesota Tax: Hastings business partners guilty of tax evasion
Two partners who ran a Hastings auto repair and towing business on Wednesday pleaded guilty in Dakota County District Court to evading taxes, County Attorney James Backstrom said.
Roy G. Babcock, 48, and Suzanne M. Snaza, 47, were ordered to repay the state about $5,900 for tax evasion stemming from their business, Boyceville Auto Repair and Suburban Towing.
The Department of Revenue estimates that Suburban Towing failed to pay more than $100,000 in state sales tax from 2001 through 2004.
Babcock pleaded guilty to four counts of failing to remit taxes; five other counts will be dismissed at sentencing Aug. 18. Snaza pleaded guilty to one count of failing to file an individual tax return.
