Tennessee Tax: Former deli owner surrenders on tax charges, tax evasion
KNOXVILLE -- The former owner of Angie's Market & Deli in Strawberry Plains surrendered herself to special agents of the Tennessee Department of Revenue on sales tax evasion and theft of property charges on Tuesday, the Revenue Department said today.
On May 10, the Knox County Grand Jury returned a 39 count indictment against Lena Angela Lampkin, 51, for failing to report over $58,000 in sales tax from April 2005 to June 2008. Lampkin also faces another count for theft of property over $10,000.
The tax evasion charges are Class E felonies, and the theft charge is a Class C felony. Bond was set at $10,000.
