Canada Tax: Fontana to unveil tax plans June 29
Joe Fontana will unveil the details of a key plank in his campaign platform — taxation — at an event later this month.
The ex-MP, who is running for mayor against incumbent Anne Marie DeCicco-Best, will publicly detail his plans regarding municipal taxes in an event at the Marconi Club on June 29, he told The Free Press Thursday.
Fontana has made it clear the key focus of his campaign will be job creation and economic growth. DeCicco-Best has said that will also be a priority for her.
Keeping city taxes in check is crucial to stimulating growth, Fontana said upon launching his campaign in late May.
"It's been far too easy (for city hall) to reach into the taxpayers' pocket and take money."
The Marconi event will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Fontana said.
