NSW Tax: Police, payroll tax to get attention in New South Wales Budget
The New South Wales Government has released more information about what tomorrow's Budget will contain, with announcements about more money for police, roads and payroll tax cuts.
In a hangar a Bankstown airport this morning, the Premier Kristina Keneally announced police would be getting a new helicopter and 25 new mobile command vans to be distributed across the state.
It will bring the number of police helicopters to six.
There will also be $12 million to upgrade forensic resources.
Ms Keneally, says it is about giving police the tools they need to fight crime.
"This is state of the art CSI equipment delivering for our front line police, helping them in the work that they do and helping the communities of New South Wales be a safer place," she said.
The Treasurer Eric Roozendaal has confirmed the budget will also contain two payroll tax cuts reducing the rate to 5.45 per cent by January next year.
The Opposition says the helicopter is a re-announcement; while Unions New South Wales says rather than payroll tax cuts, it would prefer to see the budget surplus spent on more infrastructure spending and apprenticeships.
