North Dakota Tax: Property tax abatement program extended in Moorhead and Dilworth

A property tax abatement program is being extended in Moorhead and Dilworth.

A property tax abatement program is being extended in Moorhead and Dilworth. The state-funded program was initially offered for construction in 2009 and 2010 to address housing concerns brought on by the 2009 flood.

Because flooding was also an issue this year, Governor Pawlenty signed a bill extending the program to cover homes with construction that starts before January 31 of 2011.

On single-family homes, there would be a tax break on the first $200-thousand dollars for two years. The program also covered apartment buildings.
