Canada Tax: Canadians are celebrating tax freedom
Saturday is Tax Freedom Day in Canada, but Albertans celebrated the day much earlier in the year.
The date Alberta families would have had all of their taxes paid off for the year was May 19th.
In fact, our province enjoys the earliest Tax Freedom Day of all the provinces.
There are two reasons for that: Alberta has no sales tax and our income tax rates are amongst the lowest in Canada.
Nationally, Tax Freedom Day falls three days later than last year largely because Canadians are both earning and spending more money.
