Oklahoma Tax: Tax Center Open Again This Saturday
Tulsa - The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is working for the weekend again this Saturday.
Offices in Lawton, Oklahoma City and Tulsa to be open 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
After a strong taxpayer turnout to the IRS's latest problem-solving Open House on Saturday, May 15, the IRS will open its doors again on Saturday, June 5.
Almost 7,000 taxpayers, including 100 in Oklahoma, received in-person assistance during the last open house.
In Tulsa, the IRS Taxpayer Assistance Center at 1645 S 101st E Ave. will be open from 9:00 am to 2:00 p.m.
"Being open to help solve taxpayer problems on a weekend proved popular," said IRS spokesman David Stell. "We hope that those who missed the Saturday opportunity in May, and who are experiencing a problem filing taxes, paying taxes, or resolving a tough tax issue will be able come in for help on June 5th."
IRS locations will be equipped to handle issues involving notices and payments, return preparation, audits and a variety of other issues.
About 80% of the 6,772 taxpayers who visited IRS offices on May 15 requested and received assistance with payments and notices.
"We want to resolve taxpayer issues on the spot," said Stell. "We did so in 97% of the cases we worked on May 15, as well as in 88% for a similar March 27 Open House."
