Florida Tax: Possible Jacksonville Property Tax Increase
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Property taxes may increase by more than 8% in Jacksonville come October.
The Mayor's spokesperson, Misty Skipper, said the Duval County Property Appraisers found property values are down and the rate increase is needed for the city to keep the same property tax revenue.
Skipper said without the rate increase, the Jacksonville would need to make $37 million dollars in budget cuts.
She also said the numbers from the property appraisers are only preliminary and that more accurate numbers will come out July 1st.
