Indiana Tax: Tax abatement request on Richmond council agenda
The Richmond Common Council meets at 7:30 p.m. Monday in Council Chambers at the Richmond Municipal Building, 50 N. Fifth St.
Council members will consider the following:
- A tax abatement request from Transilwrap Co. for 10 years on $2.5 million worth of equipment that is expected to retain 123 jobs and create 10 new jobs. That request will be sent to the council's tax abatement committee.
- An application to the Federal Emergency Management Agency's Assistance to Fire Fighters grant program totaling $159,435 for 75 new sets of turnout gear for Richmond firefighters and a special washing machine for laundering them. The city would provide a $17,715 match for the grant.
- Re-introduction of the city's new Unified Development Ordinance. But there will be no public hearing on that ordinance. Instead, council members are expected to set a special meeting to consider that ordinance.
