Australia Tax: Australia's Rudd Risking Election Over Tax, Courier Poll Shows
Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd risks losing the next general election over opposition to his planned resources profits tax, the Courier-Mail reported, citing a Galaxy Poll conducted for the newspaper.
In Rudd's home state of Queensland, his Labor government has the support of 48 percent of voters, while Tony Abbott's opposition has 52 percent, the newspaper said. Most voters in Queensland, home to eight marginal Labor seats, oppose the tax, the Courier-Mail said.
